As I researched this topic I often asked the question, “Why would a girl run away with a guy that she barely knew?” Or “Why wouldn’t the girls run away once they found out what was going on?” And, ‘Why wouldn’t they get a hold of the cops as soon as they could?’ As I’ve researched human trafficking, I’ve realized that a lot of it is mind control. These girls don’t feel like they have anyway out because they’ve been told that they have no say in their lives anymore. If someone is told something multiple times, they start to believe it.
As I was researching human trafficking 9 out of 10 blogs I would read always said that the men that took them didn’t kidnap them, they took their time to get to know the girls. So, these girls minds, they knew the guys they were running away with. The guys would learn their interests and act like they cared about them. The manipulating bastards would get them to open up and tell them about what was bugging them, and what was going on in their life. So, to these girls they weren’t running away with a stranger, they were running away with their prince charming. Within hours of running away though, the girls realize that this is no prince charming and that it was never the plan to ride away into the sunset. Most of the time the girls will be on so many drugs that they can’t really even think straight. When and if they get rescued the police has to find and rescue them. These girls truly believe that there is no way out, they aren’t worth anything, and no one cares about them. They’re trapped. Imagine having four walls closing in on you from every side. That is a glimpse of how these girls feel. No way out, nowhere to run. Trapped. Property. Worthless. Helpless. Addicted. Used. Hurt. Slave.
